well, I woke up in the back seat
of a dark green Buick peeling out again
well, I woke up in the back seat
the story was just about to begin
the driver was a girl from my home town
had them stars and stripes sewn on her jeans
the driver was a girl from my home town
she was my only family
we were looking for Las Vegas
we were going to make that diamond shine
we were looking for Las Vegas
you betcha I was going to make her mine
the blue skies above America
are filling up with the Devil's crows
in the blue skies above America
I can't see her anymore
hey man I can't see at all
I went back to sleep and in my dreams
she woke up and flew away
I went back to sleep and in my dreams
we had nothing left to say
now she's picking bones in Baghdad
she's a-feasting on that rotten fruit
now she's picking bones in Baghdad
telling lies about her twisted roots
she's running drugs and slaves to pay her tab
for that crude oil hypo in her vein
she's running drugs and slaves to pay her tab
she's going bankrupt all the same
the blue skies above America
are filling up with the Devil's crows
in the blue skies above America
I can't see her anymore
hey man and everything's for sale
well, I woke up in the back seat
of a dark green Buick headed west
yes I woke up in the back seat
the traveling is what I love the best

It's really DBT at their finest. Reminds me at times of Southern Rock Opera, also their mid 2000s records, other times some of their more recent albums only more polished and cohesive and better melodies, better hooks, better lyrics.
Long live DBT! bdean42
